Humans are social by nature and research shows that social networks tend to decrease in size as we age leading to increased cases of isolation and loneliness. Through research, social isolation and loneliness have been linked to higher risk of high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, weakened immune system, depression, anxiety, cognitive decline including Alzheimer’s disease and even death.
