As a Volunteer About Care, I was assigned a legally blind, 95-year-old woman who needed to go to the grocery store once a week and the eye doctor every 4 months. I wanted to help her, but she quickly took on the role of valued elder in my life. We celebrated holidays together, shared meals and an occasional movie! I expected to volunteer but couldn’t have imagined the blossoming of such wonderful friendship!
