About Care is gearing up for our Brand New Computer Assistance Program and we NEED Your Help!
Our goal is to bring the outside world to our elderly and physically challenged homebound neighbors, of Chandler and Gilbert, one computer at a time. Can you imagine two of our homebound neighbors sharing a cup of tea and visiting via the World Wide Web? The possibilities are endless!
We will officially begin this program in September of 2010. In the mean time, we are holding a computer drive asking for public and corporate donations of lightly used computer equipment, both hardware and software. If you are interested in supporting the About Care Computer Assistance Program, we are taking on corporate sponsors as well as accepting donations.
We are also accepting Volunteer Applications for individuals willing to help instruct our Neighbors in Computer Basics, MS Word, Internet Explorer, E-mail as well as a variety of other topics. Additionally, we will need technically minded Volunteers who are willing to provide our Neighbors with Technical Support.
Whether you are Volunteering for this program or a participating Neighbor, prepare yourself to have fun! For more details, select About Care's Computer Assistance Program. If you are interested in Volunteering for the Computer Assistance Program or have questions, please contact Brenda Harvey at bharvey@aboutcare.org or call 480.556.1211.
3rd Annual About Care Golf Tournament was a SUCCESS! The course and weather were perfect. Everyone had a great time thanks to the volunteers and participants. This is the only fundraising event About Care holds and participation was wonderful. Participation in this event helps ensure that About Care can continue its mission to help keep our loved ones living independent lives in their own homes. Check out the 3rd Annual About Care Golf Tournament Photographs. On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff, thank all of you who came out and had fun helping us support this worthy cause. Hope to see you and your friends next year!
Dedication to Service in Community Award Winner: Bill Chaloux Bill has volunteered cheerfully with “About Care” since it’s inception in 2004. After retiring and losing his wife to cancer he decided to dedicate his time to serving the needs of others. Whether it is providing transportation at 4:30 a.m. four times a week for someone who needs dialysis, ensuring that there is food to eat and prescriptions filled or taking a stroke victim to physical therapy three times a week for two consecutive years, Bill provides dignity, independence and respect to many of Chandler’s homebound residents. Join Bill and many others by volunteering your time today. Call About Care's Beth Summers at (480) 802-2331. Congratulations and Thank You, Bill!
